IAPH and Juzoor: Empowering Palestinian Professionals to Lead in Public Health Emergencies

May 28, 2025

The partnership between Juzoor for Health and Social Development and the International Academy of Public Health (IAPH) is a powerful example of what can be achieved when organizations align around a shared mission: strengthening public health systems in regions where they are most needed.

As part of a strategic effort to enhance Palestine’s emergency preparedness and response capabilities, Juzoor fully sponsored six Palestinian professionals—placing special emphasis on empowering women—to join IAPH’s Executive Professional Master’s in Public Health Emergency Management (MPPHE).

This internationally accredited program equips learners with essential leadership skills to navigate crises, including emergency preparedness, risk communication, outbreak response, and the development of resilient health systems. The program is designed not only to build individual capacity, but also to respond directly to the needs of local health systems.

"I believe this program is a turning point in my professional journey — it sharpens my strategic thinking, deepens my understanding of complex emergencies, and gives me the confidence to lead in high-pressure public health situations." — MPPHE Student, Nisreen Nazzal

While Juzoor provided the financial support through scholarships, IAPH ensured a comprehensive academic experience — managing admissions, onboarding, and tailored mentorship aligned with the local context in Palestine. This close collaboration ensured that students were supported throughout their journey and that their learning translated into real-world application.

The impact of this partnership extends well beyond academic achievement. These professionals are now being prepared to take on pivotal leadership roles within Palestine’s health institutions — strengthening emergency readiness, improving crisis response, and safeguarding community health.

This initiative is not a standalone effort — it marks the beginning of a deeper, ongoing collaboration. IAPH and Juzoor are currently exploring additional areas of joint work, including:

• Expanding scholarship opportunities for future MPPHE cohorts

•Co-developing short courses that address pressing regional health issues

•Organizing capacity-building workshops and leadership development programs

In a rapidly evolving public health landscape, IAPH and Juzoor are united by a belief in the power of local leadership—leaders equipped with technical expertise, strategic vision, and a deep sense of purpose. This collaboration is more than an educational opportunity—it is a strategic investment in the future of health in Palestine and the region.

Together, we are building a more prepared, responsive, and resilient health system—one leader at a time.
