About Us
The International Academy of Public Health (IAPH) is a multi-disciplinary professional development academy for the public health workforce. As a specialized academy, IAPH provides diverse fields of study, programs, and courses.
Those training courses range from long-term, mid-, and short-term training in numerous areas of public health. They aim to contribute to the development of public health services across countries in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR) by building the capacity of the public health workforce.
IAPH is not mere addition to the number of public health educational institutions in the EMR, rather, it is unique in promoting a practice-led type of public health education based on a residency model.
This contrasts with the conventional model of academic and theoretical education, which, though useful, is not in line with producing graduates with required competencies commensurate with the current realities and challenges in the public health sector.
To achieve its mission, IAPH offers diverse fields of study, programs, and courses that utilize learning methods and teach skills to be immediately applied in the field.
IAPH’s professional training programs aim to enhance leadership and performance of the public health system and improve people’s health and health care at the national and regional levels. IAPH is now taking large steps to contribute to filling the nationally identified gaps in public health knowledge and practices.
Capacity building is at the core of IAPH’s mission; we believe that improving knowledge and skills of our residents and trainees can be immediately applied, enabling them to perform their duties more effectively and efficiently.
