The International Academy of Public Health (IAPH) and Ibn Sina University for Medical Sciences Sign a Memorandum of Understanding

On Monday, January 29, 2024, the International Academy of Public Health (IAPH) and the Ibn Sina University for Medical Sciences signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This memorandum aims to establish a productive partnership that leverages the strengths of both institutions, focusing on collaboration in areas like public health education, training, and research. 

The MoU was signed by the President of the Ibn Sina University for Medical Sciences, Prof. Darwish Badran, and the Executive Director of the International Academy of Public Health (IAPH), Dr. Mohammad Al-Tarawneh. This event was attended by the Chairperson of the Board of Directors at IAPH and the Executive Director of the Eastern Mediterranean Public Health Network (EMPHNET), Dr. Mohannad Al-Nsour. 

Dr. Al-Tarawneh expressed the importance of this cooperation, highlighting its future impact in the field of enhancing healthcare services and building the capabilities of human cadres in the field of public health in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR). Prof. Badran also expressed the university’s keenness on the success of this memorandum, the importance of strengthening public health programs, and the necessity of providing the opportunity for students of health and medical sciences to learn about and benefit from the experiences of other countries, especially those that have specialized programs in the field of public health.

The MoU outlines areas of cooperation in relation to expanding the access of students and institutes in the EMR to Ibn Sina University for Medical Sciences through IAPH’s Network, which extends regionally and globally. The memorandum also stipulates the exchange of academic knowledge and practical experience between the two parties, cooperation in developing specialized courses and programs, and joint research proposals, in addition to the exchange of faculty members, employees, and researchers from both sides. 

This cooperation will also facilitate internship and student exchange programs and organize educational events such as seminars, short-term academic programs and academic meetings, while also exchanging technical expertise when necessary. Furthermore, both institutions aim to address public health challenges effectively and raise the capabilities of the next generation of healthcare and public health professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to meet current and future health requirements.
