Public Health Surveillance and Outbreak Investigation and Response
Description
This course provides participants with essential knowledge and practical skills in public health surveillance and outbreak investigation and response. It introduces the foundational principles, types, and functions of surveillance systems and guides learners in analyzing surveillance data to detect trends, prioritize actions, and inform policy and decision-making.
Participants will explore the steps of an outbreak investigation, including early detection, case definition, data collection and analysis, hypothesis generation, implementation of control measures, and communication of findings. The course also highlights the importance of coordination, multi-sectoral collaboration, and risk communication during public health emergencies.
Using case studies, simulations, and real-world examples, participants will gain hands-on experience in interpreting surveillance data, managing field investigations, and designing appropriate public health interventions to contain outbreaks and protect populations.
