Dr. Hamed AL Sinawi
Dr. Hamed AL Sinawi is senior consultant old age Psychiatrist and the head of department of behavioral medicine, Sultan Qaboos University . He is the founder and Chairman Oman's Alzheimer's Society and a member of the national bioethics committee .He completed his training in the UK and specializes in Geriatric Psychiatry and became a fellow of the Royal college of Psychiatrist in the UK in 2011 .His special interest is in cognitive impartment, mood disorder and medical education. He is involved in teaching medical students, psychiatry residents and other health care professionals and has few publications and book chapters in areas related to mental health.
Dr. Reema Tayyem
Professor of Nutrition, Department of Human Nutrition, College of Health Sciences, Qatar University, P.O.Box: 2713 Doha-Qatar.
Prof. Reema Tayyem obtained her BSc in Biochemistry and her MSc and PhD in Human Nutrition. In 2005, she received the UNESCO-L'Oreal Fellowship for Young Women in Life Sciences and conducted her postdoctoral studies at the UCSD Cancer Center, University of California, San Diego, CA, USA. She served as Chair of the Clinical
Nutrition and Dietetics Department and Assistant Dean at the Hashemite University for about eight years. Prof. Tayyem joined the Department in 2001 and moved to the Nutrition and Food Technology Department at the University of Jordan in 2016. In 2021, she joined the Department of Human Nutrition at Qatar University, where she currently serves as the coordinator of the master's program in Human Nutrition.
Dr. Randa Saad
Randa K. Saad is a dedicated and results-driven medical professional with over 10 years of experience in clinical practice, research, and public health. With a robust background in endocrinology, metabolism, and noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), she has demonstrated excellence in fostering collaboration, leadership, and communication to achieve significant health outcomes. As a Senior Technical Specialist at GHD|EMPHNET, Dr. Saad focuses on NCDs and implementation research. She leads efforts to enhance public health strategies and policies related to NCDs, contributing significantly to the region's health outcomes.
Dr. Saad's extensive research experience encompasses systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and implementation research, with numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals. She has developed and led various research projects, contributing significantly to the field of public health and advancing health policies and practices. Some of her significant achievements include leading the development and implementation of the NCD-Assessment and Planning (N-CAP) process, spearheading the United Against Tobacco regional campaign, and developing EMPHNET’s NCDs implementation research toolkit. Dr. Saad has presented at multiple international conferences and served as a keynote speaker on topics related to NCDs and public health.
Her research interests include endocrinology and metabolism, noncommunicable diseases, public health policy, and health systems strengthening, with a focus on evidence-based practice, healthcare quality metrics, and integrated healthcare approaches. She holds a Fellowship in Calcium, Metabolism and Osteoporosis Research, a Clinical Fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism, and an Internal Medicine Residency from the American University of Beirut. She also holds a Doctor of Medicine degree and a Bachelor of Sciences in Chemistry with Distinction, and is a graduate of the Scholars in health Research Program, from the same institution.
Dr. Iffat Elbarazi
Dr. Iffat Elbarazi has over 25 years of extensive experience in academia, healthcare, patients’ services, community health education, and promotion. Her career spans multiple countries including Lebanon. Australia, Saudi Arabia and culminating in her current role in the United Arab Emirates. She has been honored with the Faculty of Public Health by Distinction from the UK Faculty of Public Health. She is a has been a speaker in different international, regional and local conferences and workshops. She is the author and co author of over 100 scientific articles published in renowned international journals and has been listed in the Stanford University and Elsevier top 2% cited Scientist for the last four consecutive years.
Proudly Dr Elbarazi co-authored the first Arabic book on health promotion in 2018. She has initiated and participated in numerous collaborative studies, contributing significantly to the body of knowledge in her field. She has been recognized for her outstanding contributions to research and patient support. Also, she has been acknowledged for her excellence in undergraduate teaching and outreach programs.
Dr. Elbarazi is particularly known for her strong background in qualitative research and behavioral change theories. Her work in this area has contributed to a better understanding of the psychosocial elements of health, which is essential for developing effective health promotion and education programs.
Dr. Elbarazi’s research interests are broad and impactful, focusing on areas such as: Health promotion and education, Vaccine hesitancy, Cancer education, Psychosocial and mental health, Chronic disease prevention, Women’s health, Healthy lifestyle determinants and practices.
Dr. Elbarazi’s dedication to health promotion and education extends globally, with her work enhancing the understanding and implementation of effective health strategies worldwide. Her research and initiatives have made significant contributions to public health, particularly in areas of vaccine hesitancy and chronic disease prevention, reflecting her commitment to improving health outcomes on a broad scale.
