Meeting Between Delegates from Greater Amman Municipality at EMPHNET Headquarters to Explore Collaboration Opportunities with EMPHNET|IAPH

Upon the invitation of the Eastern Mediterranean Public Health Network (EMPHNET) and the International Academy for Public Health (IAPH), a delegation of directors from departments of the Greater Amman Municipality, headed by Dr. Mervat Mahirat, Deputy Director of the City for Health and Agricultural Affairs, visited the network's headquarters on March 12, 2024. The visit agenda included presentations about the Eastern Mediterranean Network and its academic arm, the International Academy for Public Health (IAPH). These presentations highlighted key focal points reflecting the nature of their institutional work, in addition to mechanisms for cooperation and partnerships. Subsequently, the visiting team provided input on areas of collaboration based on the needs outlined in the annual plans of the Greater Amman Municipality in the fields of training and capacity building, emphasizing the importance of data, information, and conducting studies to inform administrative decisions within the institution. This was followed by an extensive discussion where participants exchanged views on key areas of future cooperation. At the conclusion of the meeting, it was agreed upon the necessity of expediting and immediately commencing the establishment of the foundations for this joint cooperation through the drafting of a memorandum of understanding to be signed later on.
