July 30, 2024

In a move aimed at advancing healthcare, education, and training in the public health sector, IAPH and the Institute for Family Health signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on July 30, 2024. The agreement covers multiple areas focused on enhancing primary healthcare and developing the capacities of professionals working in this field.

The MoU was signed by IAPH's Executive Director, Dr. Mohammad Rasoul Al-Tarawneh, and the Director of the Institute for Family Health, Dr. Ibrahim Aqil. The agreement aims to foster collaboration between the two institutions to provide comprehensive and integrated healthcare services. It also includes the development and implementation of training programs, workshops, and online sessions, as well as joint research projects.

Dr. Al-Tarawneh emphasized that this partnership "represents an important step towards developing integrated health programs that contribute to improving the quality of healthcare in the region," affirming that the Academy will focus on capacity-building by providing specialized training content aligned with global standards.

For his part, Dr. Aql noted that the Institute seeks to enhance family healthcare services through this collaboration, highlighting the Institute's esteemed reputation, having received several certifications, including the distinguished accreditation and the Women-Friendly Centers certification. The Institute offers a range of services, including reproductive and sexual health, child protection, and support for people with disabilities.

This agreement comes at a time when both institutions are working to address health challenges in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR), with IAPH playing a leading role in training health sector professionals. The Academy offers training programs across 14 study areas, covering various fields of public health, and is accredited by the Agency for Public Health Education Accreditation (APHEA).

Through this partnership, the two institutions aim to expand collaboration and synergy among member countries in the EMR, with the goal of improving the quality of health education and building the capacities of professionals in the sector.
