All health care professionals must understand the principles and demonstrate competence in preventing and controlling infections, including healthcare associated infections.
This course is developed to provide the trainees with the basic knowledge and skill needed to prevent the transmission of infections in health care settings.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Describe and explain the infection chain
- Identify the different modes of transmission of the infection
- Describe the principle of infection control in hospital and community-based setting
- Differentiate between four types of transmission precautions
- List important components of hospital/clinic-based infection prevention and control (IPC) program
- Describe the advantages and disadvantages of the various methods for disinfection and sterilization
