As free markets rarely exist in health care, decisions have to be made about which health services should be funded in the face of resource scarcity. These are difficult decisions to make especially when medical technologies are improving and expanding, real incomes are increasing, and populations are aging. Ministries are often faced with situations where certain interventions are bound to ultimately improve health, however, funding restrictions prohibit implementation.
This course aims to provide the participants with the skills to conduct an economic evaluation that enables them to take appropriate decisions in managing health projects.
